What Is ANTA Peak Gravity Technology? Inside PG7 Cushioning

Peak Gravity sits at the center of the cushioning story behind the ANTA PG7 running family, where the focus is on reducing impact and creating a softer, more comfortable ride for everyday movement. The ANTA PG7 midsole uses an adaptive material structure designed to respond under pressure, helping absorb the force of each landing while maintaining enough rebound for a smooth transition into the next step. Peak Gravity also gives this cushioning performance a measurable reference, connecting the underfoot experience with a clearer indication of how the platform performs during impact.

What Is Peak Gravity?

Peak Gravity combines the cushioning approach behind the ANTA PG7 family with a PG measurement used to quantify shock attenuation. The PG value compares the maximum impact acceleration recorded when the shoe is compressed with standard gravitational acceleration. The principle is simple: the lower the PG value, the greater the measured shock attenuation. The ANTA PG7 became the first running midsole in the collection to achieve a Peak Gravity value below 8, while newer versions of the platform have reached 7.6 PG.

How ANTA PG7 Cushioning Works

The core of the experience is the ANTA PG7 midsole and its adaptive material structure. At rest, micro-particles within the material remain distributed throughout the midsole, then respond under pressure as the runner lands. This changing structure helps absorb impact before providing rebound as the foot moves into the next step, creating cushioning designed to feel soft and comfortable while still supporting smooth forward movement.

The latest ANTA PG7 3 continues this comfort-focused approach for everyday running, walking, and commuting. Developing the broader PG7 platform required extensive material testing and refinement, including work on its formulation, structure, and manufacturing process. Research published through the Sports Goods Industry Innovation Consortium states that the project involved 850 days of development, 45 experts, and 35 rounds of performance tuning.

Why A Lower Peak Gravity Value Matters

Running shoe cushioning is often described using words such as soft, plush, or comfortable, but those descriptions are largely based on how a shoe feels underfoot. The PG value provides an additional performance reference by showing how much peak impact is recorded during testing, with a lower number indicating greater shock attenuation. That gives runners another way to understand the cushioning behind the soft feel of the ANTA PG7 platform.

For everyday runners, the benefit is cushioning designed around comfortable landings and smooth movement through repeated steps. That makes the PG7 platform particularly suited to easy runs, recovery-paced sessions, walking, commuting, and long days spent on your feet. Rather than being engineered primarily around maximum racing speed, its cushioning puts everyday comfort and impact absorption at the center of the ride.

Cushioning Built For Comfortable Movement

The ANTA PG7 cushioning platform brings together adaptive, impact-absorbing materials and a Peak Gravity measurement that helps quantify how the midsole performs under load. The result is cushioning built around softer landings, responsive movement, and the comfort needed for everyday miles.
