Shoe Detail
Inspired by moccasins and Kyrie Irving’s family ties to the Lakota Tribe, the ANTA KAI 1 Chief Hélà features an all-brown upper with leather tassels that truly reflect the Native American origins in the historic piece of footwear.
First seen on Kyrie when he led the Dallas Mavericks to victory in Game 1 of the NBA Western Conference Finals 2024.
The Native American connection is an important one for Kyrie. His mother, Elizabeth Larson, was of Standing Rock Sioux heritage, and both his grandparents and great-grandparents were from the Standing Rock reservation in South Dakota
In 2018, after Kyrie announced his lineage and connection to the Sioux, he was given the Lakota name CHIEF HÉLÀ meaning Little Mountain.
